What is MPNUP?
The aim of this project is to provide medical help and ensure health care for people living in refugee camps around Gulu (25km diameter), Northern Uganda. The MPNUP team will consist of a MPNUP Coordinator, doctor, driver and pharmacy student (IPSF members only). Two times per week the MPNUP team will visit camps around Gulu and provide people with basic medical care and medicines. Pharmacy students can choose the duration of their placement of six, nine, or twelve weeks.
MPNUP is a joint project between IPSF and Respond ReNUH and will operate from January 2010 - December 2010.
Respond ReNUH
Respond ReNUH is a non-profitable organization which provides community development by creating sustainable development programs which focus on educational support, skills training, self-assistance, group support, and income-generation. Healthcare support activities include programs that increase population access to services such as healthcare education, provision of basic healthcare, and HIV/AIDS prevention education and treatment.
Respond ReNUH's objectives are:
- Increase accessibility of health services to vulnerable people by improving and supporting human resources, facilities and home-based services
- Advocate for the health of vulnerable members of society such as orphans, mothers, the disabled and the terminally ill
- "Being a volunteer is a special task. If you want to help people in need, you have to be prepared for hard work, giving and getting nothing in return. But - by working hard for someone who needs help you change their world to a better place. And when you succeed, you feel that you are on the right way, not looking back, only continuing to go on."
